Yet more development in Little Clacton.

This is possibly the last winter that this beautiful view across snow covered fields will be available for people to enjoy as yet another farm that has been bought by a local developer has been earmarked (the plans have now been passed by the local authority) for development into a housing estate in the new year.

I've just ditch Adobe CC as I feel I spent a lot of money on Photoshop CS5 and couldn't see the sense in paying another £10.10p a month for Photoshop CC, so I'm trying out Affinity Photo for a while to see how it compares. The above image was edited in Affinity Photo.

I know Bateman's Tower has been photographed to death but I could not resist the incoming tide and stormy sky. Bateman's Tower in Brightlingsea Essex, the light in this image is fantastic and is further enhanced by the incoming storm clouds. In 1883 John Bateman built Bateman's tower as a folly for his daughter to recuperate from consumption; however it is believed to have been intended as a lighthouse as part of a failed plan to expand the port. The tower is situated at the entrance to Brightlingsea Creek on the River Colne and is often mistaken for a Martello Tower. During The Second World War the original roof of the folly was removed so that the tower could be used as an observation post by the Royal Observer Corps. A restoration project in 2005 funded by The Heritage Lottery Fund took place to restore the tower to its original condition, including the fitting of a replica of the original roof, refurbishing the interior of the tower and also painting the outside. Bateman's Tower is leaning slightly due to the poor foundations on which it was originally built.

Last Image - Kidby Nurseries.

This is the last image taken by me of Kidby Nurseries and is the last in the series.
The gentleman seen in the image is the current owner, the nurseries have been in the same family for over one hundred years and is now awaiting development into a small housing estate.
Taken on Delta 400 black and white film with Hasselblad 503cx + Carl Zeiss 50mm f.4 Distagon lens, developed and scanned by Canadian Film Lab, contrast adjustment and cropping in Aperture.

Peaceful and serene are two words that you would not normally associate with Clacton on Sea but on this particular evening it most certainly was, the beaches, pier and proms were deserted.
